CURTI Energy has built a pilot plant to decompose the tires that have finished their function (PFU), recovering energy and secondary raw materials for reuse in new production cycles. It is a pyrolysis system for tires, from which oil, gas, recycled carbon black (RCB) and steel are derived.
Process input: PFU
Technology type: Pyrolysis
Produced energy: thermal and electrical energy
Process outputs: Recovered carbon black, steel, pyro-oil and syngas
The recovered syngas is used to power the plant process.
The fuel oil may be employed to power diesel engines or sold directly on the market. The steel is intended to foundries and the recycled carbon black (RCB) finds use in new compounds to produce a low environmental impact rubber mixtures.
